  19. # [01:59] <joanie> tbsaunde: sorry for the delay. The regression you found was due to the whole ROLE_TEXT used the wrong way thing combined with my removing some hacks for that by mistake. So I'm adding the support for the new static role, putting the hack for ROLE_TEXT in a single place, and all should be well. But I've got 2.5 hours of regression tests to run first. ;)

  68. # [22:18] <joanie> tbsaunde: pong
  69. # [22:21] <@tbsaunde> joanie: so, I tried orca master, and it seems like there's still some stuff broken on planet.mozilla.org as an example
  70. # [22:22] <joanie> bah, but tell me
  71. # [22:23] <joanie> tbsaunde: i.e. concrete example please
  72. # [22:23] <@tbsaunde> joanie: sure, just need to rebuild master since I downgraded, and now forget details
  73. # [22:23] <joanie> ok
  74. # [22:23] <joanie> sorry and thanks!
  75. # [22:23] <@tbsaunde> no worries sorry the timing was bad
  76. # [22:25] <@tbsaunde> it amuses me orca's configure checks for gcc
  77. # [22:30] <joanie> it does?
  78. # [22:30] <joanie> probably inherited that from some gnome autotools whatever
  79. # [22:30] <@tbsaunde> joanie: that what I saw scroll by
  80. # [22:31] <joanie> I doubt it's an orca specific thing
  81. # [22:31] <joanie> but I could be wrong
  82. # [22:31] <@tbsaunde> joanie: so, first thing if I move to the heading for the first blog post and start hitting down arrow I see the link, then a whole bunch of blank lines
  83. # [22:31] <joanie> I look at the configure and autotools stuff only when I have to
  84. # [22:31] * joanie looks
  85. # [22:31] <@tbsaunde> joanie: yeah, I bet its autoconf's fault, but it can still amuse me ;)
  86. # [22:32] * @tbsaunde doesn't particularly like touching autotools
  87. # [22:32] <joanie> tbsaunde: so I pressed h until I moved to Patrick Cloke - New Position.... then I down arrowed
  88. # [22:32] <joanie> I didn't get blanks
  89. # [22:32] <joanie> what are you doing?
  90. # [22:33] <@tbsaunde> joanie: hrm I think that's what I did I wonder what's different
  91. # [22:33] <joanie> i'll try one more time
  92. # [22:34] <joanie> but if I still cannot repro it, I'd like a debug.out please
  93. # [22:34] <@tbsaunde> joanie: sure
  94. # [22:35] <@tbsaunde> joanie: people.mozilla.org/~tsaunders/debug.out
  95. # [22:35] <joanie> i'm also using Firefox stable (38.0.1)
  96. # [22:35] <@tbsaunde> joanie: ah I have nightly probably from today
  97. # [22:36] <joanie> lemme try nightly
  98. # [22:38] <joanie> tbsaunde: nope it's working for me in nightly too
  99. # [22:38] <joanie> any chance you re-enabled e10s?
  100. # [22:39] <joanie> because the blank stuff sounds a bit like orca getting events, not thinking they are from firefox, and sending them off to the default script
  101. # [22:39] <joanie> the default script doesn't know anything about embedded objects and the like
  102. # [22:39] <joanie> and probably isn't able to make sense out of it
  103. # [22:40] <@tbsaunde> joanie: no, older orca works fine with the same firefox process
  104. # [22:40] <joanie> getting a caret moved event, and saying wtf (which translates to "blank"
  105. # [22:40] <joanie> really?
  106. # [22:40] <joanie> ok, then I want a debug.out
  107. # [22:40] <joanie> please
  108. # [22:40] <joanie> also, are you seeing this with stable?
  109. # [22:40] <joanie> stable firefox I mean
  110. # [22:40] <@tbsaunde> joanie: I already pointed you at one ;)
  111. # [22:40] * joanie looks up
  112. # [22:41] <@tbsaunde> I don't think I have stable around let me grab it
  113. # [22:41] <joanie> ah sorry. I work up with a migraine
  114. # [22:41] <joanie> slept most of the day
  115. # [22:41] <joanie> feel better, but visual stuff is pretty much scrambled still
  116. # [22:41] <@tbsaunde> joanie: don't be sorry that sounds unpleasent
  117. # [22:42] <joanie> ok, I see all the blanks but I don't see why
  118. # [22:43] <@tbsaunde> joanie: so what do you want from me?
  119. # [22:43] <joanie> at this moment, nothing
  120. # [22:44] <joanie> I need to think what might be causing it and add debugging info to Orca
  121. # [22:44] <joanie> for this particular case
  122. # [22:44] <@tbsaunde> it seems odd if offsets where buggy somehow I'd kinda expect orca to just get stuck
  123. # [22:44] <@tbsaunde> joanie: heh you must love all the fun cases I find for you
  124. # [22:44] <joanie> when text is broken, orca spews debugging output
  125. # [22:44] <joanie> that's why I am confused
  126. # [22:45] <joanie> you know what you could do for me tbsaunde
  127. # [22:45] <joanie> is a git bisect
  128. # [22:45] <joanie> with orca it's really fast
  129. # [22:45] <@tbsaunde> joanie: sure, and the range is pretty small
  130. # [22:45] <joanie> exactly
  131. # [22:45] <joanie> please and thank you!
  132. # [22:45] <joanie> other users have reported other bugs I can work on in the meantime
  133. # [22:46] <joanie> I love our users
  134. # [22:59] <@tbsaunde> joanie: 563a6c125c1ea855e26359530065dde4eeb6a222 is the first bad commit
  135. # [22:59] * joanie looks
  136. # [22:59] <joanie> yay, one of the uber ones. (by yay I mean boo)
  137. # [22:59] <@tbsaunde> unfortunately for you the commit message makes it sound like a big commit
  138. # [22:59] <joanie> yup
  139. # [23:00] <joanie> ok, I'm going to work on the smaller bugs Orca users are reporting
  140. # [23:00] <joanie> then I'll add debug stuff for your bug
  141. # [23:00] <@tbsaunde> joanie: sure thanks
  142. # [23:00] <joanie> and if nothing else we can tackle it on monday
  143. # [23:00] <@tbsaunde> yeah
  144. # [23:00] <joanie> though if you're around and bored tomorrow, ....
  145. # [23:00] <joanie> if you lurk here I'll just ping when I have something for you to try
  146. # [23:00] <@tbsaunde> maybe I should actually read that list again so I don't report stuff other people have reported
  147. # [23:00] <joanie> and you can try it whenever you get to it
  148. # [23:00] <joanie> no I think this is new
  149. # [23:01] <@tbsaunde> joanie: we'll see where I am tomorrow
  150. # [23:01] <joanie> sure. enjoy your weekend and we can talk monday
  151. # [23:01] <joanie> thanks for pointing this out!
  152. # Session Close: Sun May 31 00:00:00 2015
