  1. # Session Start: Sat Jun 05 00:00:01 2010
  2. # Session Ident: #css
  3. # [00:30] <tabatkins> Yo, tantek.
  4. # [00:30] <tantek> hey tabatkins
  5. # [00:30] <tabatkins> Oh, hey, yo. You're doing css3-ui?
  6. # [00:30] <tantek> what's the good word on Oslo accomodations?
  7. # [00:30] <tantek> yes indeed, picking it back up
  8. # [00:30] <tabatkins> Ah, I need to re-poll for interest in apartments. Then I'll reserve.
  9. # [00:30] <tabatkins> You want in?
  10. # [00:30] <tantek> yes, please include myself and dbaron
  11. # [00:30] <tabatkins> Cool.
  12. # [00:31] <tabatkins> So that's 5 of us on definite, and several maybes. I'll see if I can get two more definites and pick up the 7-room.
  13. # [00:31] <tantek> great
  14. # [00:31] <tantek> my basic plan for CSS3-UI is to write up some simple test cases to do a first pass evaluation at what seems to be implemented in more than one implementation, and then subset the spec accordingly, write more test cases, and get it to CR/PR.
  15. # [00:32] <tabatkins> So, UI. Was talking with arronei about this recently. You planning to do anything about the new input types?
  16. # [00:32] <tantek> the new input types definitely need help being styled that's for sure
  17. # [00:33] <tantek> in short yes, however, I don't want to hold up getting to PR what's already been implemented.
  18. # [00:33] <tabatkins> We weren't sure what the best approach is. We *want* to give authors completely control over styling. But we want to ensure that browsers have the ability to innovate in presentation too.
  19. # [00:33] <tabatkins> Kk.
  20. # [00:33] <tantek> anything new we come up with for the new inputs etc. I'd want to put into a CSS3.1 UI module
  21. # [00:33] <tantek> or if its major, maybe a CSS4 UI module update
  22. # [00:33] <tantek> it's
  23. # [00:34] <tantek> well, right now browsers can innovate however they want in HTML5 new inputs presentation
  24. # [00:34] <tantek> nothing holding them back
  25. # [00:34] <tantek> no need for a CSS spec for that
  26. # [00:34] <tabatkins> Right, but if we over-specify the presentation, it can limit what you do.
  27. # [00:34] <tantek> indeed
  28. # [00:35] <tantek> btw I'm tracking my CSS3-UI work here, publicly: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Tantek-Mozilla-projects#CSS3_UI
  29. # [00:40] <tantek> tabatkins, I've also created an issues list for css3-ui and have started tracking known issues as I discover/collect them: http://wiki.csswg.org/spec/css3-ui
  30. # [00:41] <tabatkins> Kk.
  31. # [00:41] <tantek> including an issue you raised: http://wiki.csswg.org/spec/css3-ui#issue-3
  32. # [00:42] <fantasai> tantek: what's your plan for css3-color?
  33. # [00:42] <fantasai> tantek: That's been almost-PR for like a year
  34. # [00:43] <tantek> fantasai - I'm mindmelding with dbaron today so that I can move forward on the tasks to take it to PR
  35. # [00:43] <fantasai> nice
  36. # [00:43] * fantasai has had the 2007 snapshot on hold waiting for that to pass LC
  37. # [00:44] <tantek> fantasai, in particular I'm tracking my CSS3-Color tasks here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Tantek-Mozilla-projects#CSS3_Color
  38. # [00:46] <tantek> so what's the popular CVS client for editing CSS specs these days? still command line? or any GUIs you folks like?
  39. # [00:46] <fantasai> I use the command line :)
  40. # [00:47] <fantasai> I have a ./regenerate script to do the postprocessing, and then I just check in from there
