  16. # [11:40] <r12a> testharness.js is not working
  17. # [11:40] <r12a> firefox tells me there's a syntax error
  18. # [11:41] <r12a> no tests are working
  19. # [11:41] * Joins: Lachy (~Lachy@public.cloak)
  20. # [11:42] <jgraham> Oh?
  21. # [11:42] <r12a> it could be that w3c-test.org is not responding
  22. # [11:43] <jgraham> Yeah, I was thinking the same
  23. # [11:43] <jgraham> MikeSmith: ^
  24. # [11:44] <jgraham> (that is probably also my fault; the server seems to die after some days of uptime, but it's hard to diagnose)
  25. # [11:45] <jgraham> Hopefully MikeSmith is around. Otherwise I guess we have to wait for someone else
  26. # [11:45] <r12a> ok
  27. # [11:49] <r12a> james, did anything happen with that CSS file i sent you for test styling?
  28. # [11:49] <r12a> i don't seem find anything in my mail
  29. # [12:00] <jgraham> r12a: Yeah, so I looked at it, and as it stands I like it much less than what we currently have
  30. # [12:00] <r12a> why's that?
  31. # [12:00] <jgraham> I find the black-on-dark-colour text hard to read and I don't like the rounded corners at all
  32. # [12:00] <jgraham> So I agree that there are improvements we could make to the stylesheet, but I'm not sure those specific improvements actualy are
  33. # [12:01] <r12a> i thought i'd changed all the text on dark colours to be white - i can check
  34. # [12:01] <jgraham> Oh, right
  35. # [12:01] <r12a> but make sure you cleared your cache
  36. # [12:01] <r12a> the rounded corners are details
  37. # [12:02] <jgraham> The white was in your original stylesheet and that was so hard to read I changed it to black, which also didn't work
  38. # [12:02] <jgraham> It might depend on the exact fonts that you have avaliable
  39. # [12:02] <r12a> the main change is to have the coloured backgrounds - which make it much easier to see at a glance where the passes and fails are - esp in long lists of test results
  40. # [12:02] <jgraham> Yeah, so I think the same idea but with much lighter background colours might work well
  41. # [12:03] <r12a> btw, for the pass and fail text i could have used bold, but didn't, since the colour carries the message
  42. # [12:04] <r12a> if you really want to read it, bolding would help
  43. # [12:04] <jgraham> Text that is hard to read is quite distracting because you naturally try to read it
  44. # [12:06] <r12a> differences in design preferences are notoriously difficult to achieve consensus on, so what's the next step and how do we get wider review of the suggestions?
  45. # [12:08] <jgraham> Possibly the next step is that one or the other of us makes a design with (lighter) coloured backgrounds, square borders, and readable text to see if that meets both our needs
  46. # [12:08] <jgraham> Because I don't disagree in principle with your changes, just with the actual implementation
  47. # [12:09] <r12a> ok
  48. # [12:19] <r12a> i'll also correct an error in the original code that would affect the fonts:
  49. # [12:19] <r12a> font-family:DejaVu Sans, Bitstream Vera Sans, Arial, Sans;
  50. # [12:20] <r12a> should have quotes and Sans -> sans-serif
  51. # [12:31] <MikeSmith> here now
  52. # [12:32] <MikeSmith> will restart

  107. # [19:11] <plh> Steve, seems so, assuming one knows how to access the accessibility tree
  108. # [19:13] <plh> the truth is, until we knew how to automate this, it's very unlikely that those tests will be run often

  112. # [19:26] <jgraham> Because it isn't clear how to access the information
  113. # [19:26] <jgraham> (also you can probably determine the platform information from the browser and hide the irrelevant parts of the table)
