- # [23:20] <timeless> chaals: hey, you guys have a browser, right?
- # [23:20] <timeless> try loading https://register.jabber.org/ in it :)
- # [23:20] <Velmont> Randex :D
- # [23:28] <chaals> timeless, first thing I get is "server's cert is not valid…"
- # [23:28] <timeless> chaals: ok, that's interesting
- # [23:28] <timeless> how detailed is the message?
- # [23:28] <timeless> the server's certificate is heisenvalid
- # [23:28] <timeless> depending on what your UA does
- # [23:28] <timeless> (if it uses AIA, it's valid)
- # [23:29] <timeless> (if it has seen the updated intermediate and cached it, it's valid)
- # [23:29] * Quits: Lachy (~Lachy@public.cloak) ("Computer has gone to sleep.")
- # [23:29] <chaals> The message is modertely detailed. It says that the thing hasn't started to be valid yet, asks me if the time my browser believes is actually true, ...
- # [23:29] <timeless> (if not, it is "invalid" in that the supplied chain has expired)
- # [23:29] <timeless> hasn't started to be valid yet?
- # [23:29] <timeless> that's definitely wrong :)
- # [23:30] <timeless> the intermediate either expired, or you have the current one (cached/AIA) which is from 2007..2017
- # [23:30] <timeless> unless your clock is really wrong
- # [23:30] <timeless> (i actually was the person responsible for the clock check in gecko, and given that the n900 doesn't have a battery for its RTC, it's an incredibly useful feature *sigh*)
- # [23:32] <chaals> no, I failed to do a proper user test and instead actually read the message.
- # [23:32] <chaals> my clock is about right.
- # [23:33] <chaals> (You can get the browser from http://browser.yandex.com BTW. Right now the core is basically chromium 19…)
- # [23:35] <chaals> (Although security is one of the areas where we do our own work on it. And I am not generally close enough to that to know off the top of my head which bits are due to what - I can ask the relevant people, if you're looking for answers to a particular question.)
- # [23:42] <timeless> should the download begin automatically?
- # [23:42] <timeless> (it isn't, Canary)
- # [23:42] <timeless> chaals: so... what exactly did the error message say? :)
- # [23:42] * Joins: abarsto (~abarsto@public.cloak)
- # [23:42] * abarsto is now known as ArtB
- # [23:43] <chaals> I can't get it back easily. How important is it?
- # [23:44] <timeless> not very, such edge cases are generally poorly handled and should be sent to someone to fix (or testcase) -- it's relatively rare to see them in the wild, although when they occur, the UX tends to suck :)
- # [23:45] * timeless wonders why yandex wanted IE to be closed
- # [23:45] <chaals> The UX was about as good as a message about security gets…
- # [23:45] <timeless> grr
- # [23:45] <timeless> doesn't break for me
- # [23:45] <chaals> i.e. I did actually read it, and understand.
- # [23:46] <timeless> 5:25 PM <chaals> The message is modertely detailed. It says that the thing hasn't started to be valid yet, asks me if the time my browser believes is actually true, ...
- # [23:46] <timeless> if that's what you understood, then the message was bad :)
- # [23:48] <timeless> oh, about:memory (in Yandex) doesn't mention Canary :o
- # [23:49] <timeless> hey, can i get *.yandex.ru to speak English? :(
- # [23:50] <timeless> oh, wow
- # [23:51] <timeless> in the yandex task manager, if you've clicked and dragged off "stats for nerds" and then press alt- ... space
- # [23:51] <timeless> the wrong thing happens :(
- # [23:52] <timeless> (that's apparently a chrome bug)
- # Session Close: Fri Oct 26 00:00:01 2012
The end :)
