- # [13:25] <hallvors> when some incoming tests are pretty similar to the existing tests, should I just merge them? I.e. move over any assertations that are not already in A from B and drop B?
- # [13:27] <jgraham> "It depends"
- # [13:27] <hallvors> helpful guideline :-/
- # [13:27] <hallvors> (don't take it personally)
- # [13:27] <jgraham> Merging tests has a benefit (clearer what is tested, less to read), but also a cost (different testers typically use different appraoches which can help coverage)
- # [13:28] <jgraham> So if the tests are very close then they should certainly be merged
- # [13:28] <hallvors> OK
- # [13:28] <jgraham> But if they are doing similar things in very different ways it is less clear
- # [13:29] <hallvors> event-progress.htm from Opera's XHR suite and send-response-event-progress.htm from MS's should certainly be merged
- # [13:32] <jgraham> In an ideal world we would be able to quantify these things using code coverage measurements
- # [13:32] <jgraham> Hopefully I can work on that at some point in the future
